TRAVEL - CANADA
ORGANISATIONS | When quadriplegic Sam Sullivan founded BCMOS in 1985, his goal was to make it possible for people with disabilities to access British Columbia's great outdoors. Sam wanted to surmount the barriers posed by the outdoor environment, thus making it possible for people to experience nature while participating in recreational activities. His dream led to the development of an ultralight-flying program, a disabled sailing program as well as various adventure expeditions such as Kayaking in Costa Rica. This was followed by the development of BCMOS Wilderness Access programs enabling an adapted, low-impact access into the backcountry. |
