| For a person with a disability, learning to play golf can provide much needed self-confidence and a lifetime's worth of enjoyment. I play golf with business associates, old friends, and family, just like everybody else does!In searching for information on adapted golf over the years, I've found that valuable information is difficult to locate and have been frustrated with the fact that there isn't a single place to go to get information. | Amputee Golf Australia (NSW) Inc, was founded in September 2002, with the help of the NSW Sports Council for the Disabled.
Our aim is to promote golf as viable form of rehabilitation and recreation for amputees and to provide information to amputees of new developments and improvements of prosthetics.
AGA organizes and hosts regular golf events for amputees in Australia we also provide information and advice relating to other amputee golf events, throughout the world. |

| The Q.A.G.A is committed to promoting the benefits of amputee golf as a viable form of rehabilitation and recreation for all amputees throughout Queensland and Australia. As well as providing regular golf events and clinics, the QAGA aims to provide Queensland amputees with information concerning both prosthetic aids and golf equipment that will assist amputees in enhancing their abilities and performance. The Q.A.G.A. also provides Queensland amputees with information relating to Australian and International amputee golf events and tournaments.

| CAGA's mandate is to visit trauma victims in hospitals, meeting with prospective amputees and their families at home to prepare them for the difficulties that lie ahead, giving moral support to existing amputees with their struggles in daily life, whilst also comforting their families, raising the awareness to the general populous of how an amputation affects one's daily living habits, and a part of rehabilitation - running amputee golf tournaments and supporting golf clinics across the country.

| The Challenge Golf Course and Driving Range was the first golf facility built in the nation for individuals with disabilities. Located on the Hospital's main campus, the course has wheelchair-accessible paths, handrails on the tees and slopes with inclines of 8% or less.
The Challenge Golf program at Edwin Shaw Hospital has been recognized nationally and internationally as a model for therapeutic recreation programs. Classes taught by a PGA professional help physically challenged golfers (beginning and experienced) adapt after an illness or injury.
Thousands of individuals with disabilities have demonstrated that golf can be played by those with one arm or one leg, the blind, the arthritic, and by those who have had strokes, spinal cord injuries and other neuromuscular diseases |
| Empower Golf Aust aims to facilitate and promote golf for Australians of all abilities with the following aims:
•Establish Empower Golf Hubs at golf courses nationally to enable access to golf for all abilities
•Provide and fund equipment
•Organise development days, coaching and tournaments
•Build infrastructure and profile of disabled golf with ultimate goal of Paralympic inclusion

| The main purpose of the EBGA is to provide visually handicapped people with the facility to train and compete in the game of golf. Training is provided by giving new members support to receive lessons from professional golfers. In addition each year the organisation invites all members to attend a training weekend at which PGA professionals teach the various aspects of the game. Assistance is also given to schools for the blind where pupils want to start to play golf.

| Golf is a sport which can be played by anyone regardless of age, gender, physical ability or disability. Most people will think it is essential to have good eyesight to play golf but that is not true. Totally blind and severely visually impaired golfers, with the assistance of their coaches/guides are able to enjoy the friendship and exercise the game provides – but most of all the thrill of hitting a good shot. |

| The Paramobile was originally designed for disabled golfers, but can also be customized for use in other sports and leisure activities such as fishing or archery for example. With its strong chassis frame, the Paramobile can cope with gradients of up to 30 degrees and sideways inclinations of about 17 degrees. The Paramobile will turn automatically into a safe position should these limits be exceeded. The design allows for an absolutely secure footing in any position.

| By the year 2000, the National Golf Foundation predicts that 30 million Americans will be playing golf. Of these golfers, many will physically challenged in some way. We believe that golfers who have disabilities should be given an opportunity to showcase his or her talents in a championship style event. The objective is to bring our own championship to any golfer with a physical, intellectual, and sensory disability. | The National Alliance for Accessible Golf was formed in the summer of 2001 by leaders from the golf industry and representatives of organisations serving people with disabilities. The mission of the Alliance is to increase participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf. |
| An original group of 12 men was the nucleus of today?s national organization. Dale Bourisseau, a veteran of World War II in which he received his below knee amputation, looked up comrades with similar injuries and encouraged them to try golf as a means of recreation and to re-enforce pride. Eventually, the band of amputee golfers became regional, with friendly games developing into tournament play in various cities. |

That's what Sydney man James Gribble has done since becoming a quadriplegic four years ago."I guess you make a decision very early on whether you're going to lie there and take what you've got, or if you're going to sit up and have a fight," he said.

| Paralympic gold medallist Monique Kalkman has confirmed her participation in the Disabled British Open from August 24 to 26. The 47-year-old, who has won Paralympic gold in wheelchair table tennis and tennis, has set her sights on golf, which she started playing in 2009 after being struck by cervical dystonia – a chronic neck problem. Kalkman was diagnosed with cancer at 14, resulting in the tennis starlet being paralysed from the waist down but it didn’t stop her from fulfilling her dream of becoming a world-class athlete. “I chose to talke up golf ahead of other sports because it has so many interesting sides.”
