ABC TV AUSTRALIAN STORY - 'Woman Of Steel' Anne Skinner 2176 views AUST
Riding instructor Anne Skinner isn’t meant to be alive. She spent years teaching children with disabilities the joy and therapeutic values of horse riding. A freak car accident made her the first person to survive such extensive spinal and pelvic injuries. An Australian surgeon needed to invent a world-first metal bolt device to enable her just to walk again. After a total of twenty operations and three months spent re-learning how to walk, Anne returned home and eventually, back into the saddle and back into competive riding.

NATASHA BAKER 660 views UK
Having contracted a virus, Transverse Myelitis at just 14 months old, Natasha was left with permanent nerve damage, loss of balance and sensation and severe weakness in her legs. Having grown up in a ‘horsey’ family it was when Natasha was 9 that her physio recommended she applied to the local Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). Showing a natural talent and huge passion for the sport it was whilst watching the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games that she set herself the goal of one day becoming a gold medalist. Natasha’s childhood dream became a reality when she took her place on the podium in front of an impassioned home crowd at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

NICOLE KULLEN 2415 views AUST
After contracting meningococcal meningitis septicemia in 1996 I've slowly progressed around my horses. Both my legs were amputated, I have limited arm movement and strength, with no use or feeling in both hands or wrists, plus all my internal organs were damaged. In 2000 I began competing in dressage and Para Equestrian comp's with the Equestrian Federation Aust' for able-bodied riders, Riding for The Disabled Association Australia and since 2006 with The Federation Equestre Internationale. Since then I haven't looked back.

JAIMEN HUDSON - 'THE VIEW IS BETTER FROM UP HERE!' website
I have always been passionate about the outdoors, as a youth my days were filled with activities like riding dirt bikes, skateboarding, surfing and scuba diving. Learning to dive at age 10 only added to my love of the ocean. In 2008 I had an accident that left me a quadriplegic and in 2014 I became interested in drone photography and videography, although I wasn't sure I would be able to use the remote controller due to my reduced hand function. Since then though I've been lucky to have my work featured in many prominent media outlets and publications and have also won the Western Australia 'Young Achiever Award' in 2018. I hope you enjoy what you see...!

LONELY PLANET ACCESSIBLE TRAVEL PHRASEBOOK website
All travellers will get more out of their trip by being able to speak a few words of the local language, but for people with a disability it’s often vital to be able to explain your particular needs. Since standard phrasebooks are unlikely to contain the language you need to talk about needs around disability we’ve gathered together some disability-specific words and phrases and translated them into as many different languages as we practically could. Although things are slowly changing for the better, there are still plenty of barriers to travel for people with a disability – language doesn’t have to be yet another.
