| "Fishing is one of today's most popular recreational activities and also represents one of the easiest activities to adapt to people's individual needs. Many resources are available, as is specialized equipment, including rods, reels, line, rod holders, and tackle. Most fishing-related organizations welcome and encourage people with disabilities. Many disability organizations and resources are available to assist people in accessing fishing opportunities in addition to promoting the activity". |

| Turning POINT (Paraplegics On Independent Nature Trips) was founded in 1979 by Michael "Shorty" Powers. After an injury at age 17 left Shorty without the use of his legs, he began looking for opportunities to become involved in the outdoor recreational activities that he had always loved. He found no organized activities that were available to people who had major mobility impairments. Not willing to give up his love of fishing, kayaking, scuba diving and hunting, Shorty established Turning POINT to assure that outdoor activities were readily available to people with many types of physical challenges. Turning POINT is a nonprofit organization designed to teach people with mobility impairments the skills necessary to fully enjoy the outdoors, and to provide free or low cost activities. Turning POINT provides the encouragement and support needed for people who have major physcial challengnes in life to fully participate in the adventure of living. |

| I’ve always loved to fish since I was a youngster but of course that became difficult after an accident over 30 years ago.
I knew that there had to be a way to fish again.
A lot of thought and several prototypes have resulted in the Reel Keen rod holder that you see today.
I’ve tested it extensively and refined it to the point where I’m confident that it will give you the freedom to go fishing that it’s given me. With this rod holder I’ve fished from piers and from boats and caught fish up to 9kg (20lb) in weight and I’m sure I’ll be able to do even more with it.
So turn your powerchair into a game chair in just minutes and rediscover fishing.
