HEALTH AND WELLBEING - PEER SUPPORT - AMPUTEES
INDIVIDUALS ORGANISATIONS SUPPORT GROUPS | Ann O'Neill is 34. She's attractive, dynamic and intelligent and many people wonder why she's single. Ten years ago her life was very different. She was a married woman, 24, with two small children, Kyle, 6 and Latisha, 4. Then one violent night she lost everything and almost her life. That catastrophic event ripped away all the roles she had ever known and she had to negotiate a whole new life as a disabled person stripped of her motherhood. Determined not to allow her children to have died in vain, Ann O'Neill threw herself into an advocacy role as a powerful support for others grappling with the aftermath of homicide.

| It is a love story that captivated millions.
Mac and Gayle Shann remain Australian Story's most popular couple and after much demand from viewers the program is revisiting their story.
In 2003 our cameras documented Gayle's recovery from an horrific farming accident which caused the loss of one arm and the use of her other.
Her devoted husband, Mac, became her 'hands', helping guide her through the darkest of times.
When the story first aired it attracted a strong response from viewers who were captivated by the young couples' bond and determination to stay living on a remote cattle station.
This week we catch up with Gayle and Mac at a camp draft at Weetalaba Station, near Collinsville in Central Queensland. |

| Kyle Maynard is a motivational speaker, bestselling author, entrepreneur, and ESPY award-winning mixed martial arts athlete, known for becoming the first quadruple amputee to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Aconcagua without the aid of prosthetics.
Oprah Winfrey called Kyle one of the most inspiring young men you will ever hear about. Arnold Schwarzenegger described him as the real deal,a champion human, and one of the most inspiring people he has ever met. Even the great Wayne Gretzky has spoken of Kyle's greatness.
Despite being born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, that has left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, he learned early on with the support of his family, to live life independently and without prosthetics. Kyle thrives on physical challenges and following a few rough middle school football seasons; he went on to become a champion wrestler, CrossFit Certified Instructor and gym owner, competitive MMA/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter, world record-setting weightlifter, and skilled mountaineer. |

| One October evening a car flew off a bend on a country road and finished wrapped around a tree, forever changing the life of the young man within. Stuart Tripp awoke after weeks in a coma to discover the results of the accident: head trauma, crushed legs, kidneys in failure and a memory full of black holes. This was only the start of the road ahead for Stuart and drawing on every positive influence in his life, Stuart decided that the loss of his leg would not impact on the quality of his life. In his book, Stuart reveals that travelling hopefully is really about the journey and not the final destination.
